Meet Melissa, she is one of the Maranatha board members, but also has an avid love of camp. She has been a camper herself, so it is a joy that her own family and children are able to come to camp each year. We love seeing the legacy of love and passion for camp! Melissa was gracious enough to share some of her experiences.
There is one place where I know I will always feel God’s presence. This place holds a very special piece of my heart as I have had many roles and many memories created here. I’ve been blessed to visit this special place as a camper, cabin leader, summer staffer, a parent of campers, and now through service on the board of directors. In fact, it no longer feels like a visit but as a home for my family to rest and hear God speak to us through the people, the legacies, and the campground. This place is Maranatha Bible Camp & Retreat Center.
God has used the campgrounds to build his strong foundation in me while also giving me community during each season of life. This is the legacy I desire for my five children; a place to hear God, have community with others who love God, and learn how to serve God. I love that my children can either go with friends or instantly feel comfortable with brand new friends.
The staff pours into my children, but better yet, they love my children. There is no greater desire of a parent than to watch others love their children as Christ loves them. The serving by the staff doesn’t end with them loving my kids but taking care of their needs while there. As a mom, I get to relax while the kids get fed, make messes, be entertained, and enjoy their surroundings.
The best part is that all of this happens while we are having fun. There are so many things to do as a camper or as a family. As soon as we park at camp, my kids take off to explore all the amazing places around them. I love that I can get them settled into a space that holds our large family of seven while they safely explore and find new adventures.
In summary, Maranatha Bible Camp & Retreat Center is a space for all ages to find new adventures, create long-lasting memories, build a strong community, and grow in relationship with our God.
